Founder & C++ Instructor
Hello! I'm Peiling, and I'm fourteen years old. I enjoy reading and playing games like Hogwarts Legacy in my spare time. I came to Canada in grade 3 and had to overcome multiple obstacles like the language barrier and bullies to get to where I am today. I have also completed level 9 RCM Piano (including Harmony and History) in the summer of 2023. I have competed in the BCC Computing Challenge multiple times in the past and received excellent marks in all of them. I have also competed in the Gauss contest in 2021 and was awarded an honours award for coming in second in my class. I have been coding for 3+ years now and can do C++, Java, Python, HTML, and CSS. Outside of academics, I also sing in the Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs' Chorus choir, which is an "ambitious choir for young singers," as stated on their website. I also play some badminton and is in the Quantum Blue Dragon Boat Club at R.C Palmer Secondary. With Tongmeng Learning Society, I hope to inspire others to study STEAM. I hope to see you in my class!
Science Instructor
Hi! My name is Jenny, and I'm fourteen years old. I’m an avid reader and I’m passionate about issues like workplace inequality, domestic violence, trauma, and mental health. A little about my journey; Coming to Canada in grade 3, it was difficult for me to familiarize myself with the abrupt changes and language barriers the move brought about. The struggle with language was undoubtedly one of my biggest obstacles at the time. In grade 6, with the help of my ever-supportive parents, teachers, and sheer diligence and perseverance from my end, I was no longer in ELL. End of grade 7, I applied for the Pre-AP/Incentive Program in my high school and was successfully accepted into the program. The Incentive Program, in simplified terms, is a program designed for academically excelling students seeking to further challenge themselves with more in-depth materials and a rigorous, fast-paced curriculum. In grade 8, I completed the school year with Proficient in Science and Humanities, while all my other six courses were Extending. In the ongoing grade 9 semester one, I have continually received maximum marks in my INC Science 9/10 course and a healthy balance of Extending and Proficient in English.
Math Instructor
I have an experience as a math tutor in my years of studying in school. I have studied pre-calculus 11 at grade 8, but still needs some work. Though I have no problem teaching and guiding 6 and 7th grade students. My favourite hobbies are skiing, basketball, music, and hanging out with my friends.
